As early as 1863, Bahá’u’lláh promulgated the complete equality of women and men, declaring that world peace is impossible until women participate equally with men in all arenas of human governance.
1. Tahirih: The Heroic Martyr of Female Emancipation
In 1848 at the Conference of Badasht, the poet Tahirih unveiled herself in public, proclaiming: *”You can kill me as soon as you like, but you cannot stop the emancipation of women.”*
