1. Role Summary & Creative Direction
The Footwear Designer conceptualizes, prototypes, and oversees the commercial manufacturing of seasonal men’s, women’s, and lifestyle footwear collections. The position liaises between creative studio trend forecasting and overseas manufacturing factories (Italy, Portugal, Vietnam) to deliver ergonomic, high-craftsmanship collections tailored to Middle Eastern and global retail markets.
2. Duties & Technical Responsibilities
- Concept Development & Sketching: Produce detailed hand-drawn and digital vector sketches, mood boards, and color palettes anticipating international runway and streetwear trends.
- Tech Packs & Last Engineering: Construct comprehensive technical specification packages (Tech Packs), outsole blueprints, last specifications, material callouts, and bill-of-materials (BOM) for factory sampling.
- Material & Leather Sourcing: Select high-grade leathers, sustainable textiles, EVA outsoles, and custom hardware, balancing aesthetic luxury with production margin targets.
- Sample Fitting & Quality Control: Conduct prototype fit trials, wear tests, and construction adjustments to ensure foot ergonomics, arch support, and durability compliance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with merchandise planners, cost controllers, and brand marketing to ensure product line profitability.
3. Candidate Requirements
- Education: Degree in Footwear Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, or a related creative discipline.
- Experience: 3 to 6 years of commercial footwear design experience across luxury, formal leather, or technical sneakers.
- Software Skills: Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, 3D CAD modeling (Rhino, Romans CAD, CLO 3D, or Modo).
- Portfolio Requirement: A comprehensive design portfolio demonstrating technical sketch-to-production case studies is mandatory for application review.
